After 1960 Horovice lost its status as the administrativ, cultural and industrial center of the region. It changed in the nineties, when the town became one of the most important in the region.
After the "Velvet Revolution "1989 things in Horovice started to get better. With new Civic Amenities e.g. rubish disposal sights, sewerage treatment works etc.
There is a new shopping center in Horovice. The town Hall was repareid, new sports grounds were build for the schools and the "Children House".
There is a new financial office in the town. Foreign firms started to invest into the area. (Kostal, Sekurit saint - Gobain, Tedom). Historic buildings and churches are being repaired.
Recently the town managed to build new comunity flats. Prague street - the bussiest street in Horovice is being repaired - especially the pedestrian footpaths. The building works on the new nursing home are nearly finished. The sporst facilities - including the ice stadium and the swimmingpool are newly repaired.
Although the Town Hall has financial problems, the infrastructure of the town is developing well.

The biggest part of the town´s budget is spent on public transport, subsidised heating, cultural and sporting facilities.
The town can be proud of its new cultural center, there are many regional events being organised in Horovice - the jung authors competition called "Horovice of Vaclav Hrabe", the mouth organ and harmonica players competition and the "Onion Market" which is unique to Horovice.
